The mouse is holding a traditional kinara with the seven symbolic candles representing the Principles of Kwanzaa: Unity, Self-Determination, Work & Responsibility, Cooperative Economics, Purpose, Creativity and Faith will be filled with love and light, greetings and libations, and special memories of loved ones. Kwanzaa is a holiday created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga to celebrate African-American family, community and culture. The holiday is celebrated over a seven-day period from Dec. 26 through Jan. 1 and is based on the first African harvest celebrations. The name Kwanzaa comes from the Swahili phrase “matunda ya kwanza,” meaning “first fruits”. This limited-edition design is a must for your collection.
